Responsibilities: Composite blade repairs, epoxy and resin work, daily progress reports, site checks.

Location: North America-Travel 100% on a rotational basis to wind farms throughout the U.S/Canada. - cross country travel by air or truck
Rotation pattern: 8 weeks on and 2 weeks of

Job Responsibilities for Blade Repair Technicians:

  • Perform composite blade repair up tower via platforms, rope access and/or occasionally on the ground

  • Epoxy and Polyester resin wet layup

  • Vacuum infusion, Balsa and foam sandwich materials

  • Structural repair, LEP repair

  • External and Internal Blade inspection

  • Completing detailed Daily Progress Reporting Documents and QAQC reports

  • Completing onsite stock checks

  • Assisting site lead and project coordinator as applicable

Job requirements

  • Composite repair experience ( category 4 -5 )

  • 5+ years of composite blade repair experience, including epoxy/polyester resins, wet lay-up, vacuum bagging, fiberglass, and balsa/foam core materials.

  • Platform and/or rope access experience

  • Understanding of Epoxy and Polyester resins, wet lay-up and vacuum bag techniques-must have

  • Understanding how to handle balsa and foam core materials-must have

  • Knowledge of fiberglass reinforcement and structural repair-must have

  • Ability to safely and correctly use powered hand tools

  • Quality knowledge of specification (i.e. temperature and humidity restrictions)

  • Ability to read complex technical drawings and processes

  • Ability to work well as a team and take guidance

  • Valid, current driver's license-must have

  • Physically able to safely climb wind turbines up to 120m+ (400+ feet), stand, stoop, walk, crawl, crouch, lift up to 75 lbs. and generally meet the physical demands of the position.

  • Must be 21 years of age to be able to drive a company vehicle

  • Proficient communication in English-must have

Before starting work, depending on the project, you must have the following certificates:

  • GWO BST (Basic Safety Training) - fire awareness, working at heights, manual handling, first aid

  • GWO ART (Advanced Rescue Training)-Hub and Nacelle

  • GWO Blade Repair or equivalent

  • GWO Crane & Hoist User

  • GWO Slinger Signaller

  • Chester Step/Medical Fitness Test (or equivalent)

  • Siemens Epoxy and/or Polyester Safety ( Application by brush and roller, Spray application oustide a spray booth, Professional Application of adhesives and sealants-Small packaging at ambient temperature, Foundry Applications)

  • Siemens Spot paint on metal and compostie surfaces (SE-P-17775)

  • EHS Regional Compliance US - nice to have
